As we approach the end of the first month of the new administration, I remain filled with anger, rage, and helplessness. I strongly believe that the ONLY ways to affect change are to band together and RESIST and make those in the administration accountable for what they are doing and allowing. Hopelessness is heavy, though, among those of us who feel we have no voice or who have a voice that has long been ignored. This is my small way of combatting my own feelings, whether anyone cares to read or not.

Dear Member of Congress,

If you are one of the champions for the US and its people and are fighting with all you have to combat the unethical, illegal, and fascist actions perpetrated by the current administration, I want to personally thank you. I’m grateful there are a remaining courageous few who will stand up for our democracy during this crisis.

To the rest of you, What. The. Fuck. Is. Wrong. With. You? I’ve never seen such a pathetic group of supposedly intelligent people exhibit the arrogance and cowardice we’re seeing. Your pitiable display of submission to our newly elected tyrant would be laughable, if it weren’t a precursor to the fall of this nation.

Why are you allowing a man who is in obvious cognitive and emotional decline to destroy our democracy and the people who have truly made it great? To allow the appointment and confirmation of a slew of dangerously unqualified individuals with no moral character in our most sensitive departments?

Why are you participating in a system that is attempting to sanitize what was once a great nation filled with a diverse population of every race, creed, religion, and culture?

Why do you allow—without protest or counter—the constant lying, gaslighting, and deliberate obfuscation demonstrated by a man who is ignorant of the true and documented history of the US and who refuses to admit to what is right in front of his eyes? Why do you participate in his blame game and cater to his blatant falsehoods?

How can you allow an unelected, politically ignorant man to cut essential services and needs for the people in this country while at the same time receiving millions for his and his hired thug’s personal businesses?

We have devolved—within just a month—to a nation with leadership that has stifled the free press, announces plans that are unethical, illegal, and/or unconstitutional, has dismantled many of the protections provided its citizens, escalated plans to deny rights to many more, destroyed any hope of equity and opportunity, plans to displace an already traumatized people, and continues to repeatedly lie at every turn.

If you are not actively addressing all of the arrogant bullshit that is pouring out of our nation’s capital, know that you are personally responsible for and complicit in every single death and personal or financial loss the citizens of this country and those depending on us endure. Your boss and his sidekick don’t care, so you MUST.
